
How to Set Culligan Water Softener

The New Culligan eater softener comes with programmable functions that enable you to set the salt levels as well as setting the regeneration cycle of the unit. The regular setting of the salt levels will make the water softener sieves out the unwanted minerals that often build up on your home appliances, faucets and that cause the water to taste bitter. The amount of salt used by the water softener is determined by how hard your water is as well as the amount of water you use in your home.
How to Set the Salt Levels on Your Culligan Water Softener
Step 1
Press the setup that is on the control panel of your Culligan water softener. The first setting on the LED screen interface is the “TOD” that shows the Time of Day setting.
Step 2
Once you press the setup key, scroll through the options on the menu and get to the “SLtP.” Your screen will light up for about 2 seconds and then show the default measurement or the previously set measurement, perhaps set by the technician who made the installation. The salt measurements are indicated in pounds while as if set to metric measurements will be displayed as “SLtG” for about 2 seconds before the showing the dosage in kilograms.
Step 3
Press the + or – button on the control panel to set the salt levels up or down. If you want your water to be softer, adjust to higher levels. Contrary, if the water is too soft lower the salt levels.
Step 4
To save the setting, press the Status Key on the control interface. Proceed to move through the menu items to a blank LED screen
Step 5
From the Blank LED screen, you can then exit the programming mode by pressing the Status key.
How to Set Regeneration Cycle on your Culligan Water Softener
The regeneration cycle of a water softener is determined by the hardness of your water. So during installation, the technician will calculate how often the water softener needs to regenerate and set it to run. However, you can also set the system by following the steps below.
Step 1
Follow the instructions in the owner’s manual on how to reset the time – if necessary. Look at the display indicated as “tor” for Time of Regeneration. The system often defaults to 2.00 a.m. except if it had earlier been programmed.
Step 2
Press the “+” or the “-” button to change the regeneration time in 30 minutes increments. Once done, press the Status button to save your newly set time.
Step 3
Select the number of days for your regeneration cycles. You adjust the days or regeneration by pressing “+” or “-” once the display reads “DAYS”. Save the set regeneration cycle by pressing the Status button.
Step 4
Set the hardness of water by pressing “+” or “-” once “HARD” is on display. Save the setting by pressing the Status button.
Step 5
You can also set the iron in water by pressing “+” or “-” once “IRON” is displayed then proceed to save the settings by pressing the Status button.
Step 6
To override the schedule, you can press the regen button for about 5 seconds to start the regeneration process instantly.
However, if your Culligan water softener is in the delay mode, pressing and releasing the regen button will program a delayed regeneration cycle. You can press again to switch it off.
